Welcome to the Mayor’s Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Affairs!

The Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs was created in 2021 under Mayor Marty Small, Sr. to foster equitable living and operational conditions for residents who identify as LGBTQ+ and to advocate for LGBTQ+ issues in all areas of Urban area Government. The office aims to:

  • Connect Atlantic City LGBTQ+ residents to the services and support they may need
  • Help enact policies and programs to meet the City’s diversity, access, inclusion, and equity (DAIE) goals
  • Coordinate among City departments to improve the LGBTQ+ community’s access to services
  • Provide education on grants available to community-based organizations who serve the LGBTQ+ community
  • Support the growth and development of the City’s LGBTQ+ communities and aid as a liaison between the area’s LGBTQ communities/organizations and the City.
  • Host events that enrich, promote, and bring together the LGBTQ+ community of Atlantic City

Off-Broadway veteran actor and producer Anthony J. Wilkinson’s My Great Gay Italian Casino Adventure at Sound Waves at Adj Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic Town premiered last week. The show is expected to become a mainstay next fall, giving guests the chance to enjoy an extremely gay musical in between their casino adventures.

The musical follows the first two weeks of launching the fictional Pinnunziato Palace, Atlantic City’s first LGBTQ inclusive casino. The chaos of opening with an eccentric staff, unruly VIPs, and plenty of interpersonal drama sets the tone for this over-the-top comedy. Strong opinions, stronger Jersey accents, and pop culture references fly fast for all to appreciate. “Love triangles and quadrangles… crazy characters, and new life challenges for owner [Anthony] Pinnunziato can all be expected.”

It’s About Time! AC Gets Its First LGBTQ+ Bar in 20 Years

The announcement that a new LGBTQ+ owed and operated restaurant and bar is opening in Atlantic City has to be a source of joy and pride for people who live in one of the most gay-friendly places in the nation.

The ByrdCage will be the first gay club in Atlantic City since Studio Six closed in 2004.

The ByrdCage, located at 3426 Atlantic Ave. (formerly the swingers club Role Play Lounge and most recently Pleasant Dog Bar), will be a restaurant and bar and much more, says owner Jason Reveal, an award-winning caterer and party planner recognized as Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best Party Planner.” 

Jason has over three decades of experience in the food and beverage industry, having worked in or owning restaurants in Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and Cape May County.
