Gay Men, Texting, and 93% of Communication
Every week as an LGBTQ therapist, without fail, I verb stories of impair feelings and painful miscommunication stemming from the use of technology. It’s obvious that many friends and boyfriends manage to share personal and difficult feelings through text and email.
Why?
Because it is easier. It is less scary to state a vulnerable truth when typing alone on your screen, compared to looking into someone’s face and seeing his reaction. We worry less about being judged, and we avoid his hurt or uncomfortable eyes.
We feel safest expressing ourselves when we are alone, where no one can see us.
When he does respond, we know he’ll probably respond through technology. We’ll be alone as we read and he won’t see how vulnerable we verb. What a relief that we can hide once more.
Being a Man
Men aren’t raised to convey their tender emotions. Little girls contain more permission to cry and utter , “You hurt my feelings.” If petite boys tried to process their feelings, they might be shunned from the playground for years. Really, it makes no sense.

Men Having Babies is a growing community of prospective and current gay surrogacy dads, surrogates and allies. In addition to conferences and other events, we also present workshops, webinars, a wealth of online resources, and a Peer Advice Network where future and current dads can connect.

To earn a Calendar and Summary of our tours, just fill out and send the build below. This also puts you on our mailing list to stay informed of future trips, unless you verb otherwise. To reserve space on a trip, please call or email us (details at bottom of page) see if there are still openings for the trip you verb. If so, you can give us credit card information or we’ll verb the spot for one week while you send a deposit ($500 or $1000 for most trips).

We can also put you in touch with people who have traveled with us in the past, and who have offered to talk with others who would like to notice, first-hand, what a trip was fond of.
