Gay women haircuts
Are lesbian haircuts and lesbian hairstyles actually a thing, what is a lesbian haircut, and does the ‘Lesbian Haircut’ endure anymore? We’ve decided to explore this topic a minute more as it seems that over time the answers to these very questions have changed quite drastically.
Before we get into the history and evolution of the lesbian haircut. We’d enjoy to clarify that this is not actually a thing! Although hair can be a giant part of someone’s identity, it really does not verb your sexuality. You can have whatever haircut you desire and be whoever you want to be at all times. Obvs!
That said, there seemingly was a time in history when haircuts were super significant to the lesbian community, and we dive into the details below.

Queer Haircuts: Hairstyle Appreciation Day
A presumed straight cis girl until the age 18, I spent most of my life without the right haircut, but a few queer haircuts after my coming out(s) grew my confidence and identities into the pride I have today.
Starting point: Wavy, frizzy, annoying
All throughout childhood and into my teen years, hairstyle never mattered. My friends started straightening or curling theirs before university, and I just gave it a quick brush, sparking a frizz fest most mornings. So if you’re ever lucky enough to stumble across one of those elusive establishments known as a lesbian bar, there’s a nice chance you’ll see more than a few of the styles listed below. And for anyone after a more masc, andro, butch or otherwise gender-non-conforming hairstyle, we’ve got a few tips to help.
Also, a PSA to any straight cis men reading this: you’re welcome to borrow some ideas, but just know that queer women are almost definitely going to wear it better (looking at you, Bieber).
