Thanks to places such as Delmonica’s, Katie’s Bar, AXM and nights such as Hot Mess and Shoot Your Shot, Glasgow pre-lockdown had a thriving gay pub and club scene.
And although you always will get some narrow-minded bam shouting 'You going to Bennetts' tonight at you from the protection of their tabloid-newspaper-filled white Transit van on the street for so much as wearing a tote bag or nice cardigan, things have definitely changed for the improve over the past few decades.
From a time when Glasgow could be considered a hostile place for the gay community - and not just because the participation in homosexual acts was deemed a criminal offence.

This is one of Glasgows leading known gay discos. Although this is known as a gay night club, many straight people frequent this club. During the s people from all walks of life came here to listen to the wonderful EURO BEAT music. Many a famous face has been seen within these doors.

Bennets, on Glasgow’s Glassford Street, is Scotland’s oldest gay club and was just about ready to obtain the last rites before divine intervention came in the form of Lynnet Leisure, in the spring of this year. The club was almost a rite of passage for gays of a certain age, but neglect meant it was no longer the hotspot it once was.
