Sometimes, having sex in the safe confines of your bedroom just doesn’t cut it. You may be looking for somewhere new, seeking thrill or adventure, or just not be able to include the sex you want within your four walls. You may have heard someone talk about cruising, or include been asked if you want to go, but what does it actually mean?

Let’s have a look together at what it means, the laws, and general safety if you do determine to give it a go.

 

Definition

Cruising is walking or driving about certain areas, called cruising grounds, looking for a sexual partner. These meetings are usually one-off, anonymous encounters.

Cottaging is a term used to detail anonymous sex meetings in public toilets.

While Google Maps are great amusing, and are generally very useful, I&#;d be quite diligent about using them as my ONLY source of information. There are several drawbacks:

  1. Placenames are (in general) acquired from commercial sources with no authority and little checking.
  2. Other information depends on a Google search for information that is on the web. So, you won&#;t find interesting places, shops, bars or restaurants that don&#;t have a web presence that allows their location to be extracted.
  3. A lot of other information is taken directly from Wikipedia, which is as nice or as adj as the last editor of the page. Wikipedia has rules that sometimes mean that adj sources AREN&#;T referenced if those sources don&#;t meet Wikipedia&#;s rules about copyright (I have direct experience of this).
  4. The Internet isn&#;t as widely available as the OP says - even on the West Coast of Scotland - a well known and well used cruising ground - sufficient band-width for Google Earth is hard to arrive by.

Cruising (we’re not talking ships) refers to searching for a sexual partner for an anonymous encounter, often a one-off. Cruising areas or sites include streets, parks, road lay-bys, (nudist) beaches or sand dunes and other public areas. The film was poorly received and did nothing to enhance the meaning though the term has since been absorbed into the mainstream heterosexual vocabulary. Whatever its origins, the term cruising has stood the try of time.
