Skip to contentHere’s a story that I heard about Paul Smith — soon one morning the year-old designer was on Waterloo Bridge taking a shot of the breaking day on his iPhone when he was recognised by a man carrying a load of photographic equipment. “What are you doing?”, the man asked. Paul Smith
Although the signature colors of Paul Smith look very much like our rainbow, he has only rarely offered a special Pride collection.
In , Paul Smith temporarily converted its famous pink Melrose Avenue exterior into a rainbow as part of an international Pride project in collaboration with Instagram. People as diverse as Hillary Kerr, actor Victoria Justice and Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti posed in front of the mural, garnering more than , combined likes and views. It was the first moment the #pinkwall (which boasts more than 60, Instagram mentions) had been altered since the store’s opening. Mirroring Instagram’s global reach, the rainbow wall at Paul Smith Los Angeles was one of five installed in cities around the world: Nashville, Cleveland, London and Madrid.
Unfortunately, the huge design had seven colors: green was included. This is not the LGBT rainbow, and since there was no charity connected to the project, this is more self-promotion than anything else, and I consider this pinkwashing!

"We made them with something called windings, where you take a piece of card and a selection of yarns in distinct colours, then wind the yarn around the card to build up a
