Hip with a mid-century, quirky chic Albuquerque moves to a unique rhythm with its own distinct personality. Most people used to realize of Albuquerque from Bugs Bunny, who would say, &#; I shoulda made a left toin at Albuquoique!&#; Growing up in ABQ, as us natives call it, I laughed to reflect that my capital was recognized by such an iconic figure.

But that&#;s the past &#; today, ABQ is a growing metropolis occupied of whimsical sights, crisp scents, and passionate sounds. You can find anything other metropolitan areas have, but with an ABQ twist I call, &#;AlbuQuirky!&#;.

Bugs Bunny wasn&#;t the only Hollywood star to recognize ABQ. Ethel, (actress Vivian Vance), Lucy&#;s sidekick on the I Love Lucy Present, hailed from ABQ. In one episode, en route to Los Angeles, they stopped in ABQ, where Ethel&#;s steep school boyfriend remarked, &#;Ethel Mae Potter, we never forgot her!: The first movie shot here was made in ! Gay Nightlife in Albuquerque: Best Bars, Clubs, & More

As gay and lesbian travel go, Fresh Mexico in the Southwestern U.S. tends to be accepted among couples seeking romance, not singles on the produce . Albuquerque—despite being an overall welcoming place and the state's largest city—only has a handful of gay bars and clubs. Most of the city's gay or gay-friendly bars are in the hip Nob Hill section of town, which is also home to several restaurants and coffeehouses with an LGBTQ+ following and enjoyable locally-owned shops and galleries worth checking out. So if you are visiting Albuquerque, and looking for some lively places to move , mingle, and cruise, you'll find a few very inviting hangouts, and some great events, including a big PrideFest. There are also some gay-friendly road trips within a few hours, though upscale, artsy towns like Santa Fe and Taos hold little in the way of LGBTQ+ nightlife.

With a selection of rideshares, getting around the city is easy. However, Albuquerque's crime rate is definitely high compared to many cities in the U.S., so before venturing out,

Trade

Trade is located off Santa Fe, just off 6th Ave, at the edge of the art district. A well-established leather and fetish bar, Trade is highly ranked for its sprawling floor intend and decadent events. The interior is dimly lit with ample open space and some seating. My favorite place is the patio, which has a dedicated bar for events and weekends. The patio is covered and has been recently extended doubling the space. Their events range from show tunes on Wednesdays to gear nights where everybody is welcome to show off their toys. They do not hold a kitchen but there is a stellar black metal pizzeria across the street and, on weekends an marvelous taco truck stands ready to accept your order.

#Vybe

Vybe is located on Broadway near 10th Ave. Vybe recently celebrated its 5th anniversary and in that time they verb built a specify for themselves. The inside is immense with a bar running the entire length of the room. The main area is littered with smaller tables and seats, this comes in handy for their weekly events and shows. Go out the back door and yo
